Babysitting Days

"Emma, can you babysit my youngsters on Thursday at four?" Mrs. Raven asked.
"Um...I'll ask Mother."  Emma covered the phone with her hand.  "Hey Mother, can I babysit for Mrs. Raven on Thursday?"
"Well, Father and I have a date on Thursday, so you'll have to have them come here." Mother answered.
"Okay.  Yes, Mrs. Raven, but bring them here, okay?"
"Okay."
Emma hung up.  Maybe I can have Lucy babysit those brats, she thought.
That night, Emma wrote a small poem.

Bad School Times

At lunch, on January 3rd, things didn't go so well for Lucy.  First, it was being tricked in her lunch.  Jacob likely put ketchup on her pizza instead of sauce.  Kaylee H. made fun of Lucy's hair style.  (It was a fat bun.)  Amber and Riley Booket yanked out one of her loose teeth and laughed because she still had her baby teeth in.  Lucy burst into tears.  Brad Cop and Kelly Morgan (her best friends) tried to comfort her.  The next day, it snowed!  Nobody had seen Lucy's knocked out tooth so she thought, the snow is hard enough, so I can make a mold of my tooth, put snow in it and stick it in my mouth!  So Lucy too some modeling clay, wrapped it around her tooth, pulled the tooth out of the clay, filled the clay tooth with snow and stuck it in her mouth!  "Lucy!" her mother called.  "wft goft'in fun dowf theft?" (She was saying, "What's going on down there?")  Lucy asked. "What did you say?", her mother asked.  Lucy took out the tooth.  " I said, 'What's going on down there?"  "Oh!"

At school, Lucy did not talk to anyone.  You can guess why!

A New Friend

Lucilla (Lucy) Moseart got read quickly for the first day of school.

"Lucy! Can you pour my cereal?"

"Lucilla, D.D.'s hungry!"

Her adopted sister Shang yelled. (She's from China.) Lucy rushed down the stairs. In the van, Lucy drove fasst! The first day at college seemed scary. Parents, were you afraid on your first day of college? Well, Lucy was. Lucy ran to the office to pick up her schedule.

Suddenly, Kelly Morgan ran up.

"Hi. What's your name?"

"Um...Lucilla or Lucy. That's what everyone calls me."

"Mine's Kelly."

They compared schedules.

"I think we have gym together!" Kelly squealed.

"I have voice from eleven to twelve." Lucilla said.

A New Life

Eventually, D.D. found out that the boy's name was Evan Cooper. Evan was a Christian that lived in a well stabled house. His family was very wealthy.

"Hi...um..." Evan walked up to D.D.

"Daniel Douglas Moseart."

"Oh, thanks." Evan replied. "Douglas Daniel..."

"Call me D.D." D.D. said.

"Thanks, again."

They walked up to Evan's house and sat on the porch. Evan stood. "Here, I'll show you around"

D.D. smiled. "Okay!"

Evan showed him to D.D.'s porch. "First, here's your house. Here's the stable. There's the barn. Here are the horses. This one is Copper. She's going to foal pretty soon. Here's Bella. We call her that because she sounds like one when she calls to her mates. Here's Champion. This baby's been racing since she was a filly."

He showed D.D. to the tack room. (Tack is stuff you put on a horse like a saddle or bridle.)

"Neigh!" Evan gasped. "Mom! Run to the stable! Copper's foaling!"

"What's foaling mean?" D.D. asked.

"It's when a horse gives birth." Evan answered.

Suddenly, D.D.'s mom yelled, "D.D., it's time to go to Ms. Bradley's Home for Girls!"

In the car, Lucy told D.D. that they were getting a new sister.

"How old?" D.D. asked.

"About eight." Mack replied.

When they got there, D.D. was allowed to choose which girl he wanted. He chose a girl named Shang. He knew he would love her.

The Move

Douglas, Jackie's brother sighed. They were in the car, driving to their new farm in Kannas, MO. It took three days to get there from Texas. Douglas Daniel Mousart (DD) looked back. He missed Aunt Laurn and Uncle Jackson already! He missed their cousins, Annie, Moses, Cooper, Kate and baby Kanga. Baby Kanga always laughed her googly laugh at his silly faces. Annie and Moses, both nine like Jackie, liked to climb trees with him. Cooper and Kate were twelve like his sister, Emma. He was always thinking how there seemed to be twins in his family. He had five siblings. (You say it sib-a-lings.)

His big brother Mack, his big sister Lucilla or Lucy, as everyone called her. His big sister Emma and twelve year old Jackie. He was eight. Finally, they drove up at Country Stables, the farm they were staying at. A boy waved. That instant, DD knew he had a friend. Douglas Daniel Mousart loved it!

3) Do you have five or four siblings?

Do Not Lie!

Jackie sighed, relieved. "Mom, I don't want to face Ms. Anne again!"

Mom answered, "Live with it, Sweet Heart."

"Fine."

Eventually, Jackie got sick, and had to stay home. The next day, Jackie went back. Ms. Anne said, "Jackie, I heard you had a fever, yesterday."

"I actually had pneumonia." (Jackie actually just had a cold.)

Ms. Anne frowned. "I don't see how you recovered that quickly."

Jackie shrugged her shoulders. At lunch, Jackie thought, I'm sick of telling lies. I wish I didn't have that habit. Oh well.

And eventually, Jackie lied again. (No one is perfect.)

Rabbit Act

"Make sure to put your costumes in your cubbie" Ms. Anne said. A chorus of "yes" answered her. Jackie thought, I I take my costume home, Mom can see my rabbit costume! Jackie walked to her cubbie and put the rabbit costume in to her bookbag.

"Look, Mom!" Jackie hopped over to mom on a pogo stick. "Mom. I'm a rabbit!" Jackie had put her rabbit costume on. Mom clapped. The next day Jackie hurriedly, accidentily left her costume on her bed. When she got to school, she started to unpack. Jackie looked all over her book bag for her costume. When Ms. Anne asked if everybody had their costumes, Jackie lied and said, "Yup."

"O.K., class let's go out to the stage, and do our thing. Jackie swallowed hard. "Here's your costume!" Jackie looked up to see Mom holding her costume. "Jackie, you lied to me." Ms. Anne said, disappointment in her voice. "Sorry." They walked out on to stage. Jackie played her part perfectly.
